I don't post much here anymore. I lurk around a bit every day, mostly to check my messages and the two or three artists I actually watch for. But to be honest, dA just isn't a very writer-supportive community. It's obvious in the upload format. It's much easier to upload art, and the archives are set up to display art, not writing. I would love for there to be away to differentiate between a story with chapters and one that is stand alone. Posting multi-chaptered stories here is just messy and confusing. So I post my writing elsewhere.
I don't draw anymore. At all. I don't even really doodle anymore. The couple of times in the past 6 months that I have tried to draw it's been a royal failure. I can't do it anymore. I put all my effort into improving my writing, not my art. I know if I put that same effort into drawing I would probably be pretty decent right now, but writing is my passion, what I want to base my life off of.
So there's an explanation for anyone who might be wondering. If you're interested in what I have written, please visit my (free) website at
chellendora.webs.com. I'd love to hear what you think, whether it's good or bad. I need to get better if I want to support my entire life with this.
And while I'm here, I'm going to plug some users that deserve respect.
In-the-machine:
in-the-machine.deviantart.com/ (I'm assuming this user is a girl, but it has never been disclosed to us. This is just my assumption based off reading the journals.) The journals are the main reason I follow this user. She has a view on things that pertain to a lot of the community here. She doesn't claim to know everything, but she's going to be brutally honest and that's something I respect, even if I don't agree with her. She knows how to make her point and she won't argue with you unless you're willing to be mature about it. That is something I share in common with her. Plus, her Pokemon comics are hilarious.
kara-lija:
kara-lija.deviantart.com/ This woman is the luckiest person I know. She's beautiful, she has a beautiful daughter, and she's met Cassandra Clare and calls her 'Cassie' (AERGH$
#QRFG). Her artwork is SO beautiful, I absolutely love all of it, even if I don't recognize the fandom. Cassandra Clare shares my sentiment, and she's often displaying her work on her Facebook page. They seem to be in contact with each other on friendly terms, and I just think that's amazing. That's great for kara-lija, because she's getting a lot of positive exposure, and great for Cassandra Clare, because she's getting to see her world come to life through a fan's eyes. It shows how connected to her fans she is. She is always featuring artwork from this website.
rooster82:
rooster82.deviantart.com/ Based on her journals and her replies to my comments, this is one sweet lady. Her art is gorgeous, I absolutely love her style. Her characters are so expressive, and that just makes reading her Dragon Age comic an absolute joy. She's very supportive of other artists, and she's even plugged a feature of my Mass Effect story into her journal that lead to a little more publicity for me, which I greatly appreciate. So it's time I returned the favor. Go my few little followers, enjoy her gallery.
